Frequently asked questions

Visas and passport validity
From 15 March 2022 Vietnam has reintroduced visa waivers for the nationals of 13 countries including the UK. Visa waivers allow for visits to Vietnam for up to 15 days without needing to apply for a visa. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/vietnam/entry-requirements

Your passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months on the date you enter Vietnam. A number of British nationals have been refused entry and exit due to their passport being damaged. Make sure your passport is in good condition before arriving in Vietnam. Being refused entry can result in significant cost and a long stay at the airport.
Hotel Registration
When checking into a hotel, you’ll have to hand over your passport so that the hotel can register your presence with the local police. Make sure your passport is returned and keep it in a safe place.
Transfer Time
The transfer time from Hanoi International Airport to your hotel in Hanoi is approximately 40 minutes, depending on the traffic. The transfer time from Danang Airport to hotel in Nam Hoi An is approximately 1hr 30min, depending on the traffic.
Currency
Currency Vietnamese dong
Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of £60.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Dress Code
The emphasis is on casual clothing for throughout. Go for light, loose cotton clothing and comfortable shoes or walking boots. Conservative dress is preferred for both men and women. When visiting temples and certain museums dress politely; shorts, singlets, spaghetti straps, skirts, tank-tops and open backed sandals are not acceptable. The dress code would be same for men and women, that is shoulders and legs covered, no hats, and shoes to be taken off. There is strict dress code for to enter Ho Chi Minh mausoleum: no hats, sunglasses or open sandals. Wear something that covers your knees and shoulders, which means no shorts, sleeveless tops or miniskirts. Photography is not allowed inside.

Full day- TAM THANH VILLAGE AND KY ANH TUNNEL Today you will be meeting with one of our Vivu Local Legends. These are a collection of locally selected superstars each with a memorable story to share of their impressive lives, crafts or cuisines. Please enjoy hearing their stories and feel free to ask questions directly or through your guide. In the morning, drive to Ky Anh Tunnels and follow in the footsteps of Mr. Ta, one of the witnesses during wartime to discover the tunnel networks. This incredible Ky Anh Tunnel network sits underneath the village of Thach Tan and while there are numerous entrances to the network of tunnels scattered throughout local villages, the main access is found here. In the past, there were as many as 32 kilometers of tunnels stretching through the area, although now the restored sections are much shorter, totaling a few hundred meters.

There are a couple of entrances to the tunnel network in Thach Tan, one at the local communal house or Dinh, and another in the backyard of a local house. Afterwards we will travel to the beautiful and remote village of Loc Yen. An ancient village lying in a beautiful valley in the Tien Canh commune, surrounded by rivers, streams, and mountains and where you will enjoy a wonderful walking experience. En route to Loc Yen, you will walk along winding roads and through vibrant rice fields. Upon arrival, you will find many ancient houses in typical traditional Vietnamese architecture surrounded by beautiful lush gardens. This pretty village of Loc Yen is unique with its stone alleyways, canals and terraces and the residents of the village are truly Vietnamese, friendly, welcoming and hospitable. Lunch will be prepared and served by a member of a local family residing in one of the ancient houses.

Enjoy your delicious lunch and wonderful local experience before continuing to Tam Ky City. The total distance of cycling required on this tour is approximately 8km. Following lunch we will begin our journey back to Hoi An via the Heroic Mother Thu statue. She stands 18.6m high and 120m wide and was designed to resemble Mrs Nguyen Thi Thu, who sadly lost 12 children and grandchildren during the Vietnam War. Our final stop will then be by Tam Thanh village, where the mural project in the village has transformed this remote fishing village into a fascinating artwork gallery, where more than 100 houses have been painted to reflect the local culture, people and nature.

Their influence extended beyond the borders, reaching into the territories of present-day Cambodia and Laos. As you arrive at My Son, you'll be greeted by a sprawling archaeological site, showcasing the remains of these ancient wonders.

The temples, despite the passage of time, have managed to maintain their haunting beauty and allure.
