About the location

About the location

Surrounded by endless vineyards and olive groves, there are a few waterfront bars by the beach where we can sip on a refreshing drink or Greek cocktail as we watch the sun sink into the Ionian Sea. The beach offers a great selection of water sports, and for those who have come away to switch off,  sun loungers and beach umbrellas are lined up for hire. At the end of the beach lies the small harbour of Alykanas, where boats moor for excursions to Smugglers Cove and the Blue Caves. Each evening, you can enjoy relaxed dining experiences in resort with plenty of  bars and restaurants offering traditional Greek cuisine. For those looking for a livelier experience, there is a range of entertainment at the neighbouring resort of Alykes, which is just 1km away.
Relax & Unwind at 'Angela Studios'

Relax & Unwind at 'Angela Studios'

The property consists of spacious studio apartments divided over three floors (upper floors accessible by a lift). Breakfast will be served each morning in the breakfast/lounge area and the rest of the day can be spent poolside with a good book and a cool drink from the honesty bar. With the freedom to stock up on your favourite drinks and snacks from the nearby supermarket, the choice is yours. Relaxation and enjoyment is the Angela Studios ethos.

After Sundown

After Sundown

We have three included dinners held at a nearby taverna. For the remainder of the week, we can choose to stay in our resort or head into the capital, Zante Town, just a 25 minute drive away. Your in-house Solos Tour Leader will be on hand to help with valuable local advice, whatever you decide to do.

Discover Zakynthos

Discover Zakynthos

If you're looking for a day or two away from the poolside, you'll find that Zakynthos has much more to offer than its beautiful beaches. The capital, Zakynthos Town, once known as ‘Venice of the South’, is a must see. Here, we can spend the day exploring its ancient churches and museums such as the St Denis Church or Church of Saint Dionissios, which is dedicated to the patron Saint on Zakynthos. Alternatively, spend a relaxing day sailing down the island’s stunning coastline, passing glorious beaches including Navagio Beach or Shipwreck Beach. If you're feeling more adventurous, why not book a guided or self-guided hike and experience the beauty of Zakynthos on foot.

Time difference

Greece is 2 hours ahead of the UK.

Passports and Visas

To enter Greece mainland or the Greek Islands your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:

  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Greece Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.

Optional or Pre-Bookable Excursions

You may wish to take an optional excursion during the course of your stay. Full details will be given at the Information Meeting. All tours should be paid for in Euros. Credit cards are not accepted. The exact amount will be given at your Information Meeting. Your Tour Leader will help arrange these for you but may not necessarily accompany you.

  • Island tour by bus. Currently from €45
  • Turtle tour by boat. Currently from €35 plus cost of bus to Laganas to pick up the boat
  • Boat trip to Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach). Currently from €45

Please note:- Optional excursions are not guaranteed and are based on minimum numbers. The prices quoted are guideline only and may involve other non-Solos holidaymakers. If you wish to hire sunbeds and umbrellas down at the local beach the current cost is €10 per day for 2 beds plus a parasol.

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €25.00 per week.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % add on.
Dress Code
Casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes are ideal for the evening. Early and late season evenings can be cool so do ensure that you take a cardigan or jacket and even some rainwear – particularly in May and June when you may experience some spring thunderstorms followed by scorching days!
