Day Two: Bequia, Grenadines 08:00-18:00 - 18:00

Day Two: Bequia, Grenadines 08:00-18:00 - 18:00

Pronounced ‘beck-wye’, this tiny island is still fairly untouched by tourists, and unspoilt by nature. Its coastline is fringed with sleepy, golden beaches that are backed by cedar and palm forests. Traditional boat-builders, fishermen and beachfront tenders make a living near the shores. Wander slightly further inland, meanwhile, and you’ll come across pretty, crayon-coloured houses, and shack-like restaurants serving everything from harbour-fresh fish to oven-fresh pizzas.

From Bequia’s capital, Port Elizabeth, you can easily reach the land where a historical sugar plantation once stood. The Spring Plantation’s old sugar mill still exists today, while the rest of the grounds are now overrun by soaring coconut palms and grazing livestock.

The island’s a breeding spot for rare hawksbill turtles. You can visit Brother King’s Turtle Sanctuary, where the namesake retired fisherman nurtures baby turtles until they’re ready to be released into the wild.

Day Three: St George's, Grenada 08:00 - 18:00

Day Three: St George's, Grenada 08:00 - 18:00

Grenada can’t fail to spice things up. It’s known as the ‘Spice Island’ after all. Wherever you head, the fragrant scent of ginger, almond, nutmeg and vanilla follows you. Plus you can see cinnamon, cocoa beans and every tropical fruit imaginable growing here. Alongside its basket of goodies, this lush landscape hides Bounty-like beaches, mountain ranges and thick rainforests. And don’t miss a wander around St George's, one of the Caribbean’s prettiest harbours, with its pastel-coloured buildings, cobbled streets and even the odd lipstick-red London phone box.

Don your walking boots and set off on a highland hike in the Grand Etang National Park. Taking pride of place in Grenada’s mountains, the star of the show is Grand Etang Lake, which fills a volcanic crater. And there’s plenty more to see along the walking trails that criss-cross through the rainforest.

Cool down with a refreshing swim at Annadale Falls. Incredibly pretty, it cascades nine metres to a grotto surrounded by lush plant life.

Take a break from sightseeing and kick back on the island’s Grand Anse Beach. Not only does it have wow-factor white sands that melt into turquoise waters, but the water sports are first class and it’s got some great bars and restaurants too.

Day Four:Kralendijk, Bonaire 13:00 - 19:00

Day Four:Kralendijk, Bonaire 13:00 - 19:00

If you’re in any doubt concerning what Bonaire’s all about, just look at an island number plate – above every registration number you’ll find the words ‘Divers’ Paradise’. This island in the Leeward Antilles is consistently rated as one of the best dive and snorkelling destinations in the world. Shipwrecks, tropical fish and seahorses are ripe in the waters that surround the island. Above the waterline, meanwhile, there are wild flamingo herds to see and craggy national parks to explore.

The island is known for its underwater scene, but stay on land and you can take a tuk tuk tour around its historical sites. Highlights include a 17th-century fort and a prisoner of war camp.

Bonaire coaxes out visitors’ adventurous sides. You can hop into a kayak and explore the mangroves, National Geographic-style.

The shipwrecked feeling is on offer on Klein Bonaire. This dinky island, just off the coast of Bonaire, is uninhabited and the beaches are footprint-free.

Day Five: Oranjestad, Aruba 08:00 - 20:00

Day Five: Oranjestad, Aruba 08:00 - 20:00

Nowhere showcases Aruba’s Dutch roots quite like Oranjestad. With its gable-topped houses and colonial clock towers, the island’s capital is like a little slice of Amsterdam. It’s got some typically Caribbean credentials, too – expect cushiony sands that stretch on for miles, and underwater spots that are great for snorkelling. Plus, all along the coast, you’ll find ramshackle beach bars serving up fresh seafood and rum cocktails.

Head to De Palm Island to explore the underwater depths. Set just off the Aruban coastline, this private reef is home to a huge variety of exotic sea life.

Explore the castle-like ruins of the Bushiribana Gold Mill. This place was at the centre of Aruba’s 19th-century gold rush, and is well worth a chunk of your time for its Medieval looks alone.

Day Six: Willemstad, Curacao 08:00 - 19:00

Day Six: Willemstad, Curacao 08:00 - 19:00

This little Dutch island is slowly beginning to creep onto the tourist radar, and for good reason. It offers up an unbeatable mix of footprint-free beaches and pretty colonial towns. The storybook port of Willemstad leads the pack, with its candy-coloured, red-roofed houses that gild the downtown area. It’s such an impressive sight, UNESCO have even granted the town a place on its World Heritage list.

Take in Willemstad’s best bits on the trolley train tour. You’ll get to see the Pietermaai Cathedral, Queen Wilhelmina Park, and a building known as the wedding cake house due to its quirky design.

Check out the island’s largest feathered friends at the Ostrich Park. This is one of the largest ostrich farms outside Africa, and you’ll get to feed and touch the birds while you’re here.

Inject a little adrenalin into your time here by seeing the sights on a guided jet-ski trip.

Essential Information

What happens if there is no Solos Tour Leader onboard?
In the event that there is no Tour Leader on board you will be looked after by the Marella Hostss who will arrange events where you can meet other solo travellers on the ship. The Guest Experience Coordinator arranges get-togethers for solo travellers, like dinners and coffee mornings. If you’re worried about dining alone, have a chat with the ship’s restaurant manager, who’ll make sure you’re seated with other guests.
Do I need to bring my passport?
Yes. You’ll need your passport for all of our cruises. Without it, you won’t be able to board the ship.
What adaptors should I bring for cabin sockets?
You can use either a European or a US 2-pin adaptor in the cabins.
What is a tender port?
It’s not always possible to tie a ship up at a dock. If this is the case, the ship will anchor a little way out from the shore, and use tender boats to get you to and from the ship. Tender ports are indicated in the itinerary where possible. You’ll still get plenty of time in the port, plus you can use the tender services to go back and forth from the ship as much as you like. Guests with disabilities or mobility issues will need to have some independent mobility to step in and out of the tender boat as our crew aren’t allowed to lift you.
Do you cater for disabilities?
Ask for for advice on things like ship accessibility, bringing equipment onboard, disabled facilities, and medical care. Marella has also teamed up with AccessAble, who have created detailed access guides for each ship. Visit their website to find out more. All Marella ships also have a small number of adapted cabins for less mobile passengers. Just remember to make sure one is definitely available before you book. Making sure your wellbeing is looked after at all times while you’re onboard is really important. That’s why if you need help with daily tasks, like using the bathroom, eating, or moving around the ship, you’ll need to travel with a companion or a personal assistant who can help you. Unfortunately, the crew aren’t able to help with these kinds of responsibilities.
What sort of medical facilities can I expect?
Each ship has a medical centre and there are English-speaking doctors and nurses on board who keep surgery hours. For emergencies, there’s always someone on call. If you need to pay for a medical procedure, the first £200 of your bill will be payable to the medical provider onboard.
Can I smoke onboard?
All ships are non-smoking, which means you can only smoke in designated areas of the open deck. The same goes for e-cigarettes. Please note, e-cigarettes are banned in certain countries and will be confiscated at the airport. Make sure to check the Foreign Office website for the latest updates.
What is my baggage allowance?
The baggage allowance is 20kgs.
How do I pay for things onboard?
All Marella ships have a cash-free system. Everything is priced in sterling and is charged to your cabin account. At the end of your cruise, you can settle it in cash, or by credit or debit card. If you decide to settle your bill in cash, you will be asked for up to £200 deposit per cabin per week.
How much can I expect to pay for a drink onboard?
As Marella ships are all inclusive as standard, so selected draught beer and cider, wines by the glass, branded spirits and aperitifs, and a range of cocktails and soft drinks by the glass are all included in the price of your cruise. Solos guests have been upgraded to the Premium All Inclusive drinks package for an extra range of drinks, which are normally chargeable. These include upgraded cocktails, premium spirits, Lavazza coffee, soft drink cans and a 1.5 litre bottle of water per cabin, per day.
Is Wi-Fi available?
There are designated Wi-Fi zones onboard. Internet access is charged to your cabin account at the rate advertised onboard. Mobiles can be used – so make sure to check with your provider for charges in each country and in international waters, which applies when the ship's at sea. There are telephones in each cabin too, so it’s easy to stay in touch with people back home.
What should I pack?
Packing for a cruise is just like packing for any other holiday, but there are a few things to bear in mind. Hairdryers and all towels – including pool towels – are provided. And don’t panic if you forget any essentials as our onboard shops stock things like toothpaste and other toiletries. Other than that, it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket with you, as there’s often a strong sea breeze.

Our dress code policy’s easily broken down into Beachwear, Casual and Smart. The first is a ‘come as you are’ affair, so bikinis and trunks get the thumbs up, plus we ask that you wear something on your feet for safety reasons. Meanwhile, Casual speaks for itself – we’re talking tops and shorts or a sundress. Then you’ve got Smart, which is when you’ll need to dress up a bit. Put your sports or swimwear away, and opt for trousers, smart tailored shorts or a skirt or dress, a shirt or polo shirt and smart shoes, so no trainers or flip flops. If you want to add a jacket or tie, that’s up to you. But our gala evenings, formal nights and dress to impress nights give you the chance to get really suited and booted.

Each of our restaurants has a dress code, and this can differ depending on the time of day, but we’ll always let you know. Finally, think about what’s suitable to wear on excursions. Some churches, for example, ask for legs and shoulders to be covered. Islamic countries have strict laws on dress, and in certain areas it will be required that you cover your shoulders and knees.

When visiting Mosques or other holy sites, women may be required to cover their hair, arms and legs. Men will be required to wear long trousers and a top with sleeves.

Top tips: • Attach a label to your hold luggage with your contact details on – this will help reunite you with your bag if it gets lost. • Always carry valuables, medication and other essentials in your hand luggage.
What time do I have to check-out of my cabin?
You’ll normally need to leave your cabin by 8am on your last day, but you can still use all the onboard facilities until your transfer arrives. Speak to reception about a courtesy cabin so you can freshen up before you leave. Alternatively, you can organise a late check-out. Again, reception will advise on this.
Do you cater to special diets?
Of course. If you've got any dietary requirements, please make sure you mention it when you book and let the restaurant manager know once you're onboard. Marella also provides vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and diabetic-friendly options on request.  There may be some requests that can't be accommodated, so it's important you let us know when you book your cruise. Take a look at a sample menu to see the kind of dishes on offer.
Can I do my own things in ports?
It’s up to you if you want to explore without the help of a guide. The onboard Destination Services team can give you plenty of tips. Just remember that one of the benefits of the organised excursions is that if the tour is delayed, the ship will wait. If you’re on your own and you’re not back on the ship in time, the ship won't wait for you.
