Our tour starts with a visit to Malta’s capital city the picturesque Valletta. The capital of Malta offers both culture and relaxation. Our day continues with a short walk that will take us to the “Upper Barakka” gardens with wonderful panoramic views over the grand harbour and across the 3 cities of Senglea, Vittoriosa and Kalkara. From the Barakka Gardens, the tour proceeds to St. John Cathedral where we will enter this magnificent building and be thrilled with its beauty and history. Enjoy some free time before our final stop on our Valletta tour, the Malta Experience show which is an audio visual show that tells the dramatic story of the islands 7000 year history. It is situated in a purpose-built panoramic auditorium.

Our tour today starts with a visit to Mosta Basilica, a miraculous survivor of a direct bomb hit during World War II. The Sanctuary Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady, commonly known as the Rotunda of Mosta or the Mosta Dome dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady in Heaven. We will journey on to Mdina and Rabat where we will visit St Pauls Cathedral. We then take a walking tour inside Mdina - one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. Day Five: Gozo 4x4 Adventure

Day Five: Gozo 4x4 Adventure

Today is an earlier start as we are travelling over to Gozo. There's no better way to discover the sights of Gozo than on this off-road adventure! Seated in the backseat of a 4x4, we'll explore all four corners of the island, taking in attractions such as the Qala Belvedere, Xlendi Bay, the Inland Sea and the Victoria Citadel among others. You'll get the chance to see some of the island's famous landmarks. The Neolithic Ggantija Temples and the medieval magic of the capital, Victoria. We'll also visit the salt pans and limestone quarries as well as a craft centre.

Gozo is known for its many natural beauty spots, too, and by 4x4 they're easy to get to. Spot the steep cliffs in Sannat, Ramla Bay's red sand beach, the famous Inland Sea lagoon and the mysterious Calypso Cave, which legend says was the setting for part of Homer's epic Odyssey. This excursion packs a lot into one day!

Once back at the hotel we will meet for our final evening meal in the hotel restaurant.
  • Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
Day Six: Three Cities & Marsaxlokk Village

Day Six: Three Cities & Marsaxlokk Village

After breakfast we set out on our first excursion beginning with a drive to the famous ‘Cottonera’ region of Malta, known as the ‘3 cities’. We stop at ‘Vittoriosa’, one of the oldest localities on the Maltese islands. After a short walk along the promenade we will enjoy a guided walk through this historical city, past its main square and to the church of ‘St. Lawrence’. From the main square we will also enjoy a guided visit to the famous palace of the ‘Inquisitor’. This ancient building from the period of the Knights was the dreaded holding place for those plotting against the state.

Most who entered never came out again! From 'Vittoriosa', we continue further south to the beautiful fishing village of ‘Marsaxlokk, famous for the many multi-coloured Maltese ‘Dhajsa' fishing boats in the harbour. Stroll around the port of Marsaxlokk and enjoy the free time.

Frequently asked questions

Transfer Time
The transfer from the airport to the hotel is approximately 20 minutes.
Important Information
A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required as we include plenty of sightseeing/travelling, some with early starts. The order of the itinerary and events may be subject to change. Please note that during winter months outdoor leisure facilities will not be open.
Dress Code
Medium weights for Winter. Casual “layers” for the autumn and spring months and a warm jacket is recommended for the cool mornings and evenings. Comfortable shoes are a “must” for sightseeing. The hotel prefers reasonably smart dress for dinner – gentlemen are asked to wear long trousers and a formal shirt.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €30.00.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Passports and visas

To enter Malta your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:

  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Malta Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
