A great combination

A great combination

Carefully balancing tourism with tradition, Lanzarote has retained much of its original character, peppered with charming white-washed houses nestled in pretty villages adorned with bougainvillea. Certainly a significant influence on the look of today’s Lanzarote are the exhibits and sculptures on display at the César Manrique Foundation, an art gallery featuring art created by Manrique himself, as well as art acquired over his life. The gallery includes original sketches by Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró.
'Out of this world' landscapes

'Out of this world' landscapes

Lanzarote can seem like another planet, with its volcanic landscapes. To experience the amazing volcanic power underneath you, we can visit Timanfaya National Park, better known as the Fire Mountains. Scratch away the top soil and feel the warmth under your feet. It’s here that 32 volcanoes erupted all at once in 1732. The Mirador del Rio - Lanzarote’s best viewpoint - is also worth a visit, situated hundreds of feet above the sea crowning Famara Cliff, where cannons once kept watch over the Atlantic.

North Tour
For this tour we head towards the town of Haría, where we will see a wonderful view of a beautiful palm grove, known as "The Valley of a Thousand Palms". We continue through the towns of Máguez and Ye, we will arrive at the Mirador del Río and step on the Famara Cliff, where we can observe a view of the island of La Graciosa and the "river" that separates it from Lanzarote, as well as being able to admire the rest of the Chinijo Archipelago from a spectacular perspective. From there we will head, skirting the Corona Volcano and the Malpaís de la Corona, towards the Jameos del Agua. A cave of undeniable beauty and that gathers an indescribable and totally different landscape, formed by volcanic eruptions.
Cost: Approximately Euro 63.00 (including lunch)

South Tour
This superb tour heads to the Fire Mountains to visit the Timanfaya National Park, where we can enjoy geothermal demonstrations on the islet of Hilario. We will continue with the "Volcanoes Route", accompanied by the history of the eruptions that have occurred in Lanzarote in the past. Stop in El Golfo. We will continue to the most important wine-growing area of Lanzarote, La Geria, a unique example of how the local farmers have taken advantage of and adapted to a unique place in the world (stop at a typical winery and tasting included).
Cost: Approximately Euro 58.00 (including a typical Canarian lunch)

Grand Tour
An excursion that combines that North and South Tour in one day. You will be picked up from just outside the hotel and head directly South to the Fire Mountains where you will see a couple of demonstrations and feel the heat of the volcano. We will continue between volcanoes and craters to visit the Timanfaya National Park, where we will enjoy the geothermal demonstrations and we will do the "Volcano Route". We will cross La Geria, an example of how the Lanzarote farmer has known how to adapt and is the wine area par excellence. We will stop at one of their cellars with tasting included. From there we will head north through the old capital of the island, Teguise, Los Valles and Haría with its view of the Valley of a Thousand Palms. We will get to the Jameos del Agua, where visit this natural cave.

Discovering Fuerteventura

Cruise about 35 minutes to Corralejo harbour, in Fuerteventura, an island full of contrasts that will surprise us with mountainous landscapes and large herds of goats. We will continue to the village of La Oliva, where we will see the Candelaria church. It is built in traditional Canary architecture and dates from the 18th century. Then continue to Betancuria, one time the capital of the island. There we will have free time to visit the village. After this, we will visit a traditional farm-museum that has different animals and
its own cheese dairy. Returning northward, crossing Puerto del Rosario and driving along the coast until the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo, where we have free time to enjoy this wonderful natural place. Back to the Corralejo harbour and cruise to Playa Blanca harbour.

Approximately €80.00

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €15.00.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Dress code
During the summer months, casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. With medium weights recommended for winter, casual layers for the autumn and spring months and a warm jacket or cardigan is advised for the cool mornings and evenings. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. The hotel prefers reasonably smart dress for dinner – gentlemen are asked to wear long trousers and a formal shirt. Beach towels are available from reception. A €5 deposit is to be paid and will only be charged if towels are not returned at the end of the week.
