About this trip...

About the trip

Home to dense pine forests, dramatic white cliffs and some of the most beautiful beaches in the Med, the island of Lefkada is a Greek gem in the Ionian Sea, and a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste of traditional and authentic Greek island living. Add all that to the walking, hiking and cycling routes, mountains and waterfalls, and you’ve got a lot more than your traditional beach holiday. Nestled on the eastern coast of the island is the small, yet bustling village of Nidri, home to our popular Solos Exclusive property. Think idyllic white-pebble bays, restaurants and bars lining a beautiful seafront promenade, and sail boats bobbing on emerald waters. A Greek idyll, you might say!

LEFKADA SOLOS EXCLUSIVE

Our ‘Ionian Paradise’

Our ‘Ionian Paradise’

Traditionally Greek in style and set amongst pretty gardens offering privacy from the hustle and bustle of the village outside, the hotel could not be further from the large cookie-cutter resorts found elsewhere in Greece. Every room is unique and split between two distinct blocks – one traditional, and the other more modern with newly upgraded facilities. The pretty breakfast area extends out onto the terrace, allowing for breakfast to be enjoyed overlooking the pool and surrounded by the scent of the bougainvillea blossoms. Speaking of the pool, it is reserved just for Solos guests and is the perfect spot to cool off after a morning exploring the stunning island of Lefkada.
The small bar in the hotel is the perfect spot for catching up with new-found friends over a couple of drinks each evening, and planning adventures for the days ahead. Step outside the tranquillity of the hotel and you will find yourself right in the heart of the lively village of Nidri. A short walk (we’re talking under a minute) and you’ll find yourself on the main shopping street, and the coastal promenade is just a few steps further on.
The resort of Nidri

The resort of Nidri

The main shopping street is where you’ll find an array of gift shops, restaurants and coffee bars, as well as essentials including supermarkets, a pharmacy and the post office. Heading along the main coastal promenade, you’ll find more restaurants, bars, a disco and a wine cellar; everything is right on your doorstep. You’ll also find the main marina area of the resort with its array of sail boats and sightseeing boats, all just a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel. The palm tree-lined seafront promenade is the perfect spot for sitting with a cold glass of wine and watching the world go by, or for hopping on a boat trip to explore more of the island of Lefkada, and the numerous islets adorning this part of the Ionian Sea. Take a stroll around the seafront and you’ll find the statue of Aristotle Onassis. The famous shipping tycoon purchased the nearby island of Skorpios is 1963 and wed Jackie Kennedy there in 1968, before spending many family holidays on the island (as well as holding many high-profile parties). You can book a boat trip to see the island up-close.
Nidri is dotted with pretty, shingle bays and beach bars - buy a drink at one of these bars and they’ll let you use their sunbeds free of charge, or just take your beach towel and pick your spot on the shore. If you’re feeling energetic you can head along to the water sports centre and hire a jet ski or sea canoe to explore the coast, or for the adrenaline junkies there are banana boats, water skiing and parasailing options.
Not Your Typical Beach Holiday

Not Your Typical Beach Holiday

If you’re looking for sun and relaxation, with a sprinkling of the hustle and bustle of traditional Greek island life, Lefkada hits the spot. But what is really unique about this Solos Exclusive offering is having the option to do so much more than simply eating, drinking and relaxing in the sun – although that does sound just fabulous! The location is spectacular – a quaint seaside village with a bustling marina and sea views, mountain backdrops, lush green islets, olive groves and nearby fishing villages to explore. Hire a bicycle or e-bike and enjoy the picturesque cycling routes around the island, or don your hiking shoes and head into the mountains, following steady or more challenging routes and taking in stunning island views and majestic waterfalls.

Visit a local taverna and enjoy a traditional Greek meal and there are also wine tasting opportunities at the local wine cellar, and if you’re a beach lover you can explore some of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean. From pristine sands and glistening pebbled coves to sea caves and dramatic cliffs – we recommend taking a boat trip to the west coast and spending a day beach-hopping. The island’s capital and port, Lefkada City (city by name, small, traditional town by nature), is around a 30-minute taxi drive away and is home to cobbled shopping streets, 17th century churches, quaint squares and a number of small, yet fascinating, museums. Walk the town promenade to the lagoon, a bird-watching hotspot, or the Agia Mavra fort dating back to 1300 AD.

Passports and Visas
To enter Greece mainland or the Greek Islands your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
  • less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)
Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.

A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport.

For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Greece Foreign Advice If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.

Tourist Tax
  • Climate Crisis Resilience Tax  – €1.50 per night, payable locally
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €25.00 per week.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % add on.
Dress Code
Casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes are ideal for the evening. Early and late season evenings can be cool so do ensure that you take a cardigan or jacket and even some rainwear – particularly in May and June when you may experience some spring thunderstorms followed by scorching days!
