About this trip...

About the trip

Located on the magical Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, Split is a city that has something for just about everyone. The largest city in Croatia's Dalmatia region, Split's Old Town is steeped in history, with its maze of cobblestone streets and the remnants of a Roman palace. It's also a city rich in culture and cuisine, accompanied with nearby tucked away beaches to take a step away and relax, making Split the perfect city break for our groups of solo travellers.

After breakfast, we enjoy a fascinating guided tour of Split. We meet our guide and head to the Old Town - famous for one of the greatest structures of the Roman Empire. The huge palace of the Emperor Diocletian is a UNESCO cultural heritage site. We will explore the historic inner city, built around this famous Roman palace, with its bustling streets, classical columns and Romanesque bell towers. This afternoon, we have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city further, head to the waterfront or discover a nearby beach to relax.

Day Three: Explore the Krka National Park

This morning, we escape the hustle and bustle of Split and head to Krka National Park, named after the Krka River it's upon. The park itself is famous for its pristine waterfalls, especially the famous Skradinski Buk falls, easily one of Croatia's most famous sights. We will take a cruise along the Krka River to reach the National Park where we disembark and stroll along the wooden trails spread all over the National Park, enjoying the natural beauty of this untouched area.

Day Four: Set sail to Brac Island

Day Four: Set sail to Brac Island

Today we set sail to the island of Brač, home to one of the most famous beaches in the Adriatic - the Golden Horn. The island is known for its fishing and agricultural products, with locals producing wine, olive oil, figs, nectarines and other fruits. The main export however is, and has always been since ancient times - the famous Brac stone. From this, many famous buildings in the world have been built, including the White House in Washington D.C., Berlin’s Reichstag, and the Catholic cathedral in Liverpool. In Split, the Brac stone helped construct the Diocletian’s Palace and also the cathedral in Trogir. We will enjoy a picnic of local specialties such as fish on the island, before returning to Split in the early afternoon.

Frequently asked questions

Transfer time
The transfer time from Split Airport to the hotel is approximately 30 minutes.
Dress code
The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart casual. Comfortable shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €20.00.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Passport, Visa & Entry Requirements

To enter Croatia your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:

• less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
• valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old. A visa is not required by holders of passports endorsed “British Citizen” for stays of upto 90 days in any 180-day period. Please note that stays in other EU countries counts towards this 90 day period.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Croatia Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements.
