Day Three: Golden Triangle & Hill Tribes
We begin the day with a scenic drive to Doi Mae Salong, a mountain village known for its lush tea plantations and rich cultural heritage. Walking through the tea fields, we learn about traditional tea production and sample freshly brewed local varieties. We then visit a hill tribe village, where we meet the Akha people and observe their unique traditions and crafts. After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we continue our journey to the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. A boat ride along the Mekong River offers us stunning views and a glimpse into the region’s storied past. Once infamous for opium production, the area is now a cultural and historical treasure. Returning to our hotel in Chiang Rai, we enjoy a relaxed evening at leisure.

Day Four: Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai
After breakfast, we set off on a picturesque drive to Chiang Mai (3hrs), taking in the beautiful northern Thai countryside. Our first stop is Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, perched atop a mountain with breathtaking panoramic views of the city. We take a tram or climb the 306 steps of the Naga staircase to reach the temple’s Golden Chedi. Inside, we admire the intricate carvings and sacred relics while soaking in the spiritual atmosphere. Later, we check into our hotel and unwind before an evening of cultural immersion. We enjoy a traditional Lanna Kantoke dinner, featuring a variety of Northern Thai dishes. As we dine, we are treated to captivating dance and music performances. The evening offers us a deeper appreciation of Chiang Mai’s rich heritage.

Day Five: Chiang Mai & Yi Peng Festival
Our day begins with a tuk-tuk tour of Chiang Mai’s vibrant streets, stopping at the lively Warorot Market to browse local produce, textiles, and souvenirs. We then visit Wat Phra Singh, home to a revered Buddha statue, followed by Wat Chedi Luang, an ancient temple with a towering pagoda. After some free time to explore, we prepare for the highlight of our trip—the Yi Peng Lantern Festival. Arriving at the festival grounds, we enjoy a traditional dinner accompanied by cultural performances. As night falls, we take part in the breathtaking lantern release ceremony, where thousands of glowing lanterns rise into the sky. This magical moment symbolizes letting go of misfortunes and making wishes for the future. Filled with awe and gratitude, we return to our hotel, cherishing the unforgettable experience.

Day Six: Chiang Mai to Bangkok
We check-out of our hotel and take a morning flight to Bangkok, where we are met by our local guide. Our first adventure in Thailand’s capital is a longtail boat ride along the Chao Phraya River, passing stilted houses and hidden temples. We disembark at Wat Arun, the stunning Temple of Dawn, with its intricate porcelain mosaics and towering spires. After exploring the temple, we check into our hotel and take some time to rest. The evening is free for us to experience Bangkok’s dynamic atmosphere at our own pace. We may choose to explore the bustling night markets, enjoy a rooftop bar, or indulge in authentic Thai cuisine. With so much to see and do, Bangkok offers endless possibilities.

Day Seven: Bangkok’s Grand Palaces & Temples
After breakfast, we visit the magnificent Grand Palace, a masterpiece of Thai architecture and home to the revered Emerald Buddha. Walking through its opulent halls and golden stupas, we gain insight into Thailand’s royal history. Next, we explore Wat Pho, famous for its massive Reclining Buddha and traditional Thai massage school. A short walk takes us to Yimsoo Café, where we enjoy a special lunch at a social enterprise supporting people with disabilities. In the afternoon, we visit the Jim Thompson House, a beautifully preserved teakwood home showcasing Thai art and silk-making history. We also cross the canal to a silk factory, where we witness traditional weaving techniques. The evening is ours to relax or explore more of Bangkok.

Day Eight: Ayutthaya Day Trip
We set out early for Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam, filled with majestic temple ruins and historical wonders. Our first stop is Wat Mahathat, where we see the famous Buddha head entwined in tree roots. Next, we visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet, once the grandest temple in the city, known for its impressive chedis. We continue to Wat Chaiwatthanaram, a riverside temple with striking Khmer-style architecture. After exploring the ruins, we head to Sai Noi Homestay Village for a traditional Thai lunch. Here, we participate in hands-on cultural activities, such as making auspicious Thai desserts and learning about local crafts. Returning to Bangkok in the evening, we reflect on the rich history we uncovered today.

Day Nine: Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
An early morning drive takes us to Ratchaburi, home of the famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. We navigate the canals on a traditional boat, watching vendors sell fresh fruits, snacks, and souvenirs. Continuing to Kanchanaburi, we stop for lunch before visiting the historic Bridge over the River Kwai. We then embark on a train ride along the Death Railway, passing scenic countryside and remnants of its wartime past. In the late afternoon, we check into our riverside resort and unwind. The evening is spent enjoying a peaceful dinner while soaking in the tranquil surroundings.

Day Ten: Kanchanaburi’s Natural Wonders
We start the day at Hellfire Pass, a poignant memorial to prisoners of war who built the railway under harsh conditions. Walking along the historic trail, we reflect on the sacrifices made here. After a moving visit to the museum, we head to Erawan National Park, known for its stunning waterfalls. We hike through lush forest trails, stopping at cascading pools where we can swim in the emerald waters. A delicious lunch at a local restaurant follows before we return to our resort. The rest of the evening is free for us to relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance.

Please note:
- The history of this region can be emotionally challenging for some visitors. Be prepared for potentially upsetting content and allow yourself time for quiet reflection afterwards.
- The walk to the Hellfire Pass is around 1km long and is not difficult. However, you will need to walk up and down a few flights of stairs to start and end your walk.
- It can get very hot whilst doing the Hellfire Pass walk, so please make sure to bring water.
- There is a longer walking option available which takes guests to the Hintok Cutting. The walk is around 5km in length and there are some steep climbs and uneven surfaces.
- Lockers are available at the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum.

Day Eleven: Phuket Bound
After breakfast, we drive back to Bangkok and take a flight to Phuket, Thailand’s island paradise. Upon arrival, we transfer to our beachfront resort and check-in. The rest of the day is ours to unwind—perhaps with a swim, a beach stroll, or a relaxing spa treatment. The warm ocean breeze and breathtaking coastal views set the perfect tone for the days ahead.

Day Twelve: Day at Leisure
Today is a day of pure relaxation, with the option to join an exciting excursion (additional cost). We can choose to embark on a speedboat tour to Phi Phi Islands and Bamboo Island, where we snorkel in crystal-clear waters and lounge on pristine beaches. Those who prefer a quieter day may enjoy exploring Phuket’s Old Town, known for its charming colonial architecture and vibrant markets. However we choose to spend the day, the island’s beauty and serenity provide the ultimate escape.

Day Thirteen: Day at Leisure
We enjoy another free day in paradise, with the option to visit James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay (additional cost). This tour includes scenic canoeing through hidden lagoons, visits to sea caves, and a stop at a floating fishing village for lunch. Alternatively, we can simply relax by the pool, sip fresh coconut juice, and soak in the tropical sunshine. This final full day in Thailand is ours to enjoy at our own pace.

Day Fourteen: Depart Phuket
Our incredible journey through Thailand comes to an end as we enjoy a final breakfast at our resort. We have some free time to take in the last moments of Phuket’s beauty before checking out. A private transfer takes us to Phuket airport for our flight home. As we bid farewell, we carry unforgettable memories of cultural experiences, stunning landscapes, and the magical Yi Peng Lantern Festival.
