Frequently asked questions

Transfer Time
Transfer time from Sphinx International Airport to Pyramids Resort by Jaz is approximately 20 minutes. Transfer time from Sunrise Alma Beach Resort to Hurghada is also approximately 20 minutes.
Dress Code
Casual dress and comfortable walking shoes. Light clothing is recommended to stay cooler in the hot climate. When visiting religious sites, tourists are expected to dress modestly - shoulders and knees should be covered at these locations.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff of approximately £50. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.

Visas granted on arrival are valid for a maximum of 30 days. There’s no need to buy a visa from an agent. In many cases agents will charge more than US$25 for a visa. If you’re harassed by an agent, report the incident to the tourist police in the airport terminal. For further information and enquiries, contact the Egyptian Consulate in London. Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your sole responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant embassies and/or consulates of the countries in which you are planning to travel.

Currency
Egyptian Pound Some shops accept credit cards or Sterling for larger purchases. There is a surcharge in most places for using a credit card of 3% to 5%, throughout Egypt. In the bazaars, and smaller shops, dollars or Egyptian pounds cash will only be taken. For ease we recommend that you pay by cash for any optional excursions. Credit cards are NOT accepted. US dollars, Sterling and Egyptian pounds can be used at the Duty Free shop. We also recommend you bring with you a good amount of cash Sterling as cash point machines are not easy to find especially during the Nile Cruise.

Cash money can be easily exchanged to Egyptian pounds in Egypt and you get a better exchange for the sterling in Egypt. You can pay cash (any currency) or by card on board. We recommend that when travelling to Egypt you call your bank or credit card company to inform them of your trip so they do not block your cards.
