What you will be doing...
Day One: Overnight flight from the UK
Day Two: Arrival in Windhoek
Day Three: Kalahari Desert & Fish River Canyon
After breakfast, we depart for the Fish River Canyon area, travelling via Mariental and Keetmanshoop. The journey takes us through the stunning landscapes of the Kalahari Desert, known for its iconic red sands and unique wildlife. The Fish River Canyon, located in the south of Namibia, is the largest canyon in Africa and the second most visited tourist attraction in the country. It boasts a gigantic ravine spanning around 160 kilometres long, up to 27 kilometres wide, and nearly 550 meters deep in places. We arrive at Canyon Lodge in the late afternoon, where we have the option to spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool or arranging an afternoon activity with the lodge. Take time to explore the unique quiver trees, admire the murals depicting the history of southern Namibia, and enjoy the lodge's amenities.
Day Four: Fish River Canyon, Lüderitz & Kolmanskop
We begin our day with a visit to the spectacular Fish River Canyon viewpoint, before traveling through Aus en route to Lüderitz. Situated along Namibia's rugged coastline, Lüderitz is renowned for its colonial architecture and diverse wildlife, including seals, penguins, flamingos, and ostriches. Explore its historic streets, visit the local museum (optional, ticket cost: NAD 150.00 per person), and learn about its intriguing railway history. A highlight of the day is a tour of Kolmanskop, a hauntingly beautiful ghost town steeped in mining history, located just inland from Lüderitz. Spend the night at Lüderitz Nest Hotel, offering luxurious accommodations and a memorable dining experience at the Penguin Restaurant featuring regional delicacies like west coast rock lobster and Lüderitz oysters.
Day Five: Namib Desert
Today begins with an early departure for the Namib Desert, a journey that promises awe-inspiring landscapes and a real sense of adventure. (Drive duration is six hours). Upon arrival at Namib Desert Lodge, nestled at the base of ancient, fossilised dunes, we take time to soak in the tranquillity and marvel at the red sand sea. Whether choosing to unwind by the pool with a drink or exploring the surroundings, the lodge offers a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. As evening approaches, consider an optional sunset drive to witness the desert's breathtaking transformation under the golden hues of dusk (extra fee: NAD 865.00 per person). The Namib Desert Lodge provides a welcoming retreat with comfortable accommodations, scenic trails into the dunes, and opportunities to observe wildlife such as gemsbok at the nearby waterhole.
Day Six: Sossusvlei & Deadvlei
Today starts early to maximise the day's adventures. Before sunrise, we'll depart for Sesriem - the gateway to the iconic Sossusvlei Dunes. Sossusvlei, encompassing salt and clay pans surrounded by towering red dunes, forms a centrepiece of the Namib Desert's Namib-Naukluft National Park, drawing visitors with its unparalleled natural beauty and unique ecological features. The gates open at sunrise, offering a breathtaking spectacle as the dunes come alive with shifting colours under the morning sun. The journey covers approximately 60km, passing by Dune 45, renowned for its towering height and photogenic appeal.
Day Seven: Swakopmund
After breakfast, we head towards Swakopmund - Namibia's premier holiday destination, passing through Solitaire for a coffee and cake stop, famous for its renowned apple pie. Continuing on, a brief visit to Walvis Bay allows us to explore the vibrant birdlife at the Walvis Bay Lagoon - a RAMSAR site celebrated for its ecological richness. The final stretch to Swakopmund offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean to our left and towering dunes to our right.
Day Eight: Swakopmund
Today is ours to explore Swakopmund - a coastal city known for its German colonial architecture and stunning location on Namibia's western coast. Founded in 1892 as a harbour for German South West Africa, Swakopmund now offers a blend of beach resort charm and historical landmarks like the Altes Gefängnis and the Woermannhaus. Discover attractions such as the Swakopmund Museum and the National Marine Aquarium, or opt for optional activities to experience the natural beauty and recreational opportunities this vibrant city has to offer. Swakopmund's diverse dining scene invites us to indulge in local cuisine or international flavours, ensuring a memorable day of relaxation and exploration in this coastal gem of Namibia.
Day Nine: Damaraland & Twyfelfontein
This morning, we depart from the foggy coast and head towards Damaraland. The journey takes us through the mining village of Uis and past the Brandberg, Namibia's highest mountain, standing at nearly 2,600 meters. We visit Cape Cross to see the impressive seal colony before continuing deeper into Damaraland. Known for its sparse population and geological diversity, this harsh, rocky environment is home to elusive desert elephants, black rhinos, and free-roaming antelopes. We arrive at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, nestled in the heart of this spectacular wilderness. Optional afternoon activities are also available. We enjoy dinner and overnight at Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, where the architecture harmonises seamlessly with the natural sandstone formations, offering panoramic views of the Huab Valley and desert plains.
Day Ten: Damaraland & Twyfelfontein
This morning, we begin with a visit to the Twyfelfontein rock paintings and the Damara Living Museum. Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Damaraland, boasts one of the most extensive collections of rock-art engravings in Southern Africa, created by the Khoi-San and other ancient tribes. After immersing ourselves in this rich cultural legacy, we explore the nearby natural wonders, including Burnt Mountain, the Organ Pipes, and the Petrified Forest. Along the way, we might spot some of the unique desert-adapted animals that inhabit this harsh yet beautiful environment. Here we also see the Welwitschia mirabilis plant – the oldest living desert plant on Earth.
Day Eleven: Himba Village & Etosha National Park
Today, we embark on a drive from the Damaraland area to Etosha. En route, we visit a Himba village to experience the unique lifestyle and culture of the Himba people in Namibia. Depending on our arrival time at Etosha, we may have the opportunity to enter the park with our own guide and vehicle for a game drive before the gates close. This will be a chance to spot some of the diverse wildlife that Etosha is renowned for. Arrival at the lodge will be in the late afternoon or early evening, allowing some time to relax and unwind after the day's journey.
Day Twelve: Etosha National Park
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the abundant wildlife of Etosha National Park, centred around the vast, parched Etosha Pan. This park, Namibia’s first conservation area proclaimed in 1907 by Governor von Lindequist, is home to four of the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard and rhino. Despite the park's vast size, only the southern edge of the pan is accessible to visitors. Game viewing focuses around the numerous waterholes, some spring-fed and others supplied by boreholes, which are ideal spots to observe over 114 different game species and more than 340 bird species. You can expect to see popular species such as giraffe, blue wildebeest, plains and mountain zebra, hyena, lion, leopard, and various antelopes including kudu, oryx, and eland. The park is also home to endangered species like the black rhino, cheetah, and black-faced impala.
Day Thirteen: Final Game Drive in Etosha and Journey to Windhoek
This morning, our guide takes us on another game drive in Etosha National Park, where you may encounter animal species not seen the previous day and enjoy new surprises at different waterholes. The vast Etosha Pan, a salt pan desert nearly 130 km long and up to 50 km wide, dominates the park. During the dry season, the parched and cracked pan draws animals closer to waterholes, making it an excellent time for game viewing. In the rainy season, the park transforms into a lush oasis, with young foals, cubs, and chicks frolicking among the new green shrubs and grasses. After the game drive, we travel back through the country's central bushland savannah to Windhoek, the capital.
Day Fourteen: Departure from Windhoek
After breakfast, we embark on the journey back to Windhoek, reflecting on the incredible experiences of our Namibian safari. Our guide will transfer you to Windhoek International Airport for your departure. Bid farewell to Namibia, taking with you unforgettable memories of an extraordinary adventure. Included: Breakfast
Day Fifteen: Arrive back into the UK

They are very friendly and playful and not scared of our Kayaks, even when you paddle right next to them. The seals are inquisitive and often come within touching distance of your kayak.
You will meet your kayaking guide at 8h00 at our office at the Walvis Bay Waterfront. From there we depart in our 4×4 vehicle on a scenic drive along the Walvis Bay Lagoon and the salt mines to Pelican Point. There are plenty of photo stops along the way to take pictures of countless flamingos, large flocks of cormorants, pelicans and great variety of other birds and wildlife.
SANDWICH HARBOUR 4 X 4 SCENIC EXCURSION
Duration: 08h30 – 12h30 or 12h30 – 16h30
Min 3 guests
Price: NAD 2’400.00 per person
We have two daily departures for this excursion: Our morning half-day Sandwich Harbour 4×4 Scenic Excursion starts every day at 08h30 (check-in at 08h15), returning at 12h30, while our afternoon half-day Sandwich Harbour 4×4 Scenic Excursion leaves from our offices at the Waterfront in Walvis Bay at 12h30 and returns at 16h30.
Departing from the Walvis Waterfront, we do a short break at the Walvis Bay Lagoon to see masses of flamingos and other coastal birds that reside in and around the lagoon at different times of the year. From here, the drive initially takes us to the Kuiseb river delta, a dry riverbed where the odd springbok, oryx or jackal may be spotted. As this area forms part of our Kuiseb Delta Concession, we are the only activity operator allowed to access this area.
If weather and tides allow, we will drive right to the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon along the beach, one of Southern Africa’s richest and unique wetlands and one of five RAMSAR sites (Ramsar site no. 743) in Namibia. Sandwich Harbour boasts two distinct wetlands and associated mudflats. One is aquifer-fed and supports typical emergent vegetation, but is slowly disappearing due to natural causes.
The second, under tidal influence, consists of mudflats and raised shingle bars. Wedged between the sea and the Namib Dunes, it is one of Namibia’s most important coastal wetlands, supporting eight endangered species among the large numbers of wading birds. Several archaeological sites dating back 1,000 years exist within the site. Human activities have included fishing, guano collection, and hunting. If our vehicles cannot drive all along the beach to get to Sandwich Harbour because of high tide, you will get a chance to see the lagoon area from one of our many beautiful lookout spots and will have the time to walk and explore. We have lots of time to stop along the way for photography.
When it becomes time to enjoy something to eat, your guide simply finds a suitable place to stop and serves a selection of oysters and snacks with sparkling wine, beers and cooldrinks. We usually do this on top of a high dune overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, between the dunes or on the beach. Our excursion will take us past the area’s typical fauna and flora. Animals which have developed ways to adapt to the desert include the black-backed jackal, fog-basking beetle, dancing spider (‘white lady of the Namib’), golden mole, shovel-snouted lizard, palmato gecko, springbok, oryx, brown hyena and ostrich.
Endemic to the central Namib Desert, the! Nara plant has adapted well to the desert: Its tap root can reach more than 15m into the ground to reach water resources. They have no leaves to lower loss of water by transpiration. The route homewards takes us over spectacularly high dunes and guests will experience some exhilarating 4×4 driving, before arriving back on the beach for an easy cruise home.
SAILING DESERT ADVENTURE (FULL DAY)
Combination tour: Sandwich harbour 4 x 4 & Catamaran cruise
Duration: 09h00 – 16h30
Min 3 guests
Price: NAD 3’600.00 per person
The Sailing Desert Adventure provides the ultimate combination of viewing our marine life on a leisure sailing cruise on the Atlantic Ocean and exploring our fauna and flora with a ride in the breath-taking Sandwich Harbour Area of the Namib Naukluft Park.
We set sail between 08h45 and 09h00 (check-in 08h30) every morning with our sister company Catamaran Charters from our Jetty at the Walvis Bay Waterfront for a marine educational sailing excursion in the bay area in search of the Marine Big 5: Whales, Dolphins, Mola, Leatherback turtle and seals. While serving hot coffee and tea, our initial route takes us past oyster farms as we approach Pelican Point with its landmark lighthouse and 60,000 resident Cape Fur Seals. In season (July to November), larger mammals such as the Southern Right Whale and Humpback Whales are often spotted, while other whale species, such as the Gray whale and the Pygmy Right whale have made appearances. Bottlenose, Heaviside 24 and Dusky dolphins are regularly seen, as are Sunfish and Leatherback Turtles.
Accompanying our four sailing catamarans throughout are a variety of seabirds, such as the Kelp Gull, Hartlaub’s Gull, Pelicans, Skua and Cape Cormorant. We hoist the sails of our four sailing catamarans whenever possible, switch off the engines and let our guests experience true sailing. Guests can even help in putting up the sails and rigging the ropes.
Our journey from Pelican Point takes us past some of the more interesting ships and oil rigs in the bay as we serve fresh oysters with sparkling wine, savoury snacks and desserts together with light drinks, cooldrinks and water. We return to the Waterfront at about 12h30, where your Sandwich Harbour 4×4 guide will meet you for your afternoon Sandwich Harbour excursion.
After a short break at the Walvis Bay Lagoon to see masses of flamingos, the drive initially takes us to the Kuiseb river delta, a dry riverbed where the odd springbok may still be seen. We are the only activity operator allowed to access this area as it forms part of the Kuiseb Delta Concession which was awarded to us in 2019.
If weather and tides allow, we will drive right to the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon, one of Southern Africa’s richest and unique wetlands and one of five RAMSAR sites (Ramsar site no. 743) in Namibia. Sandwich Harbour boasts two distinct wetlands and associated mudflats. One is aquifer-fed and supports typical emergent vegetation, but is slowly disappearing due to natural causes. Several archaeological sites dating back 1,000 years exist within the site. Human activities have included fishing, guano collection, and hunting.
The site is used for scientific research, with surrounding areas used for tourism, recreation, and angling. If our vehicles cannot drive all along the beach to get to Sandwich Harbour because of high tide, you will get a chance to see the lagoon area from one of our many beautiful lookout spots and will have the time to walk and explore. We have lots of time to stop along the way for photography.

No less spectacular is the iconic fruit of the Namib desert, the! Nara melon. This leafless plant with its long tap root (up to 15 meters) has been an important part of the ǂAonin people’s diet, key to their survival in the area for more than a century and still to this day is the only local plant that is utilized commercially. We return to the Walvis Bay Waterfront at around 16h30.
