With the weather heating up in the UK and summer finally here, we have been dreaming about lazy days on the beach, relaxing by turquoise waters with the sand between our toes. So, we thought we would share with you our favourite beaches in Europe that we know you will love too!

1) Santa Ponsa, Mallorca

It is impossible not to fall in love with Santa Ponsa’s soft, sandy beach. Nestled in a sheltered cove in the south-western corner of the island, the unspoilt beach is edged with shady pine trees that flutter with colourful parakeets. As a resort, Santa Ponsa really does have something for everyone. Soak up the Spanish sun and explore the rocky coves and cliff paths that extend from both ends of the beach. Then when evening comes, check out the resort’s selection of lively bars, clubs, discos and restaurants.  2) Navagio Beach, Zakynthos

One of the most photographed beaches on the Greek islands, Navagio beach on the island of Zakynthos is a slice of pure paradise. Carpeted in white sand and backed by a wall of marble cliffs, the exposed cove is made all the more picturesque by the abandoned shipwreck which washed up on the shore in 1983 – an icon which has given it the nickname ‘Shipwreck beach’. 3) Perissa Beach, Santorini

Santorini’s striking black sand beach lies at the base of Mesa Vouno Mountain, just a 13km drive from the white-washed houses of Fira. Nowhere is the island’s history of volcanic activity more apparent. Over many centuries, the molten rock from volcanic eruptions hardened and then eventually broke down to create the uniquely black sand Perissa is so famous for. On hot days, remember to bring your sandals to the beach with you. The black sand absorbs the heat, making it piping hot to walk on! 4) Elafonisi Beach, Crete

Blindingly blue waters and a mixture of pink and white sand beaches make Elafonisi one of the most beautiful stretches of sand on the Greek isles. It is actually an island, separated from the south-west coast of Crete by a shallow, warm lagoon and sandbar. Stretching for almost a mile, Elafonisi presents sun-worshippers with plenty to explore. After soaking up the sun, wade out to discover hidden coves, rare plants, wildflowers and interesting rock formations. Find out more about Solos holidays to Crete

6) Papagayo Beach, Lanzarote

Lanzarote is not short of beautiful beaches, but Papagayo’s collection of five pristine beaches are some of the most popular – and for good reason. Just a short 20-minute drive away the resort of Playa Blanca, the sheltered beaches are part of Los Ajaches Natural Park. This means you will have to pay a small entrance fee, which goes towards the maintenance and protection of the beaches. While the beaches can be busy during peak times, their size means you will always be able to find a quieter spot to lay your towel.
