Preparing to travel
There are certain things you need to think about that you wouldn’t normally need to, like Covid-19 testing and pre-departure forms. It’s also really important to check the entry requirements for the country you’re travelling to. If you don’t have the correct documentation at check-in, you may not be allowed to board your plane. You’ll also need to consider how many face masks to pack and be ready for a cash-free holiday. You’ll find our Prepare To Travel check list useful.
Exempt from wearing a face covering?
If you are medically exempt from wearing a face covering, we recommend you carry evidence of this from your doctor in addition to checking local regulations and requirements before your holiday departure date.
What to expect at the airport and during your flight?
At the airport
Check the website for the airport you’re flying from to see which Covid-19 measures are required and which facilities are open
If you’ve got luggage to put in the hold, the bag drop will be self-service where possible
Allow plenty of time to go through security and board your flight taking into account the extra measures in place
Boarding
You can expect some changes to the boarding process so allow plenty of time when called to your gate
On your flight
You’ll need to check the airline’s website that you are flying with as all airlines have their own individual measures
Most airlines will be operating cash less, so be prepared for that if you want to purchase anything on the flight
Airlines may require you to wear a mask whilst on the aircraft
On arrival at your destination
Please be aware that you may be subject to random Covid-19 testing on arrival at your holiday destination
On arrival home
There may be delays as you re-enter the UK
What to expect at your hotel and destination?
It’s safe to say that all of our hotel partners are operating with the highest hygiene standards, in line with local Covid-19 regulations. These regulations however, won’t be too different to what you’re used to at home.
In some destinations, local COVID-19 regulations may require you to wear a face mask around the hotel. You’ll find more hand sanitising stations in place, you may see distancing markers on floors in areas like reception, buffet restaurants and bars. And, there may also be some other measures in place to reduce one-to-one contact.
These however shouldn’t stop you from enjoying your holiday, and we promise to let you know if there are any significant changes that are likely to do so. Each hotel and destination will be different so it’s important to check the country’s regulations you are flying to, but the following information is designed to give you an idea of what you could expect.

Hotel Check-in
There may be a clear partition between you and the receptionist.
You could see social distancing markers and staff could be wearing face masks.
Your Room
Rooms will be deep-cleaned before you arrive. During your stay, cleaning could be less frequent than usual to reduce contact.
At some hotels, in-room facilities such as tea and coffee, minibars and room service may be unavailable.
Pools
Main hotel pools should be open as usual. There could be restrictions on the number of people allowed in the water at a time. Sun loungers may be laid out to comply with social distancing measures. Hotels may close indoor pools, saunas and hot tubs.
Out and about in your destination
Regulations around social distancing and wearing a face mask while you’re out and about, vary from country to country. You may be required to wear a face mask in all public areas, but be sure to check the FCDO advice before you leave the UK.
We recommend you bring enough face masks to last your entire holiday, just in case. As it is advised to swap your masks frequently.
Measures in bars and restaurants will differ from country to country too, some may even have digital menus that use QR codes, for example, and their indoor areas and outdoor terraces may have capacity restrictions in place.
Some beaches may have social distancing measures in place.
