Why solo travellers should spend September in Turkey

Meet Andy

For those who’ve had the pleasure of travelling with Tour Leader Andy on a Solos holiday, you’ll be more than familiar with his laid-back friendly approach to the Solos experience. And now, with Turkey Solos Exclusive, we have the resort to match his chilled-out energy, as he reveals all about the Turkish seaside haven he can’t wait to welcome you to this September. Having spent a couple of seasons here (2023 & 2024)—there’s no one better placed to paint the picture of what to expect from a week or two at the tranquil Beyaz Suite Hotel

Peaceful Setting

“The hotel’s location on the beach—it’s absolutely stunning! Far away from busy tourist areas that typically attract overseas visitors, we’re based in a traditional destination for Turks. Part of my travel motto is to ‘embrace the differences that we encounter along the way’ and nothing says it better than the authentic Turkish resort of Göltürkbükü. You won’t find any nightclubs or sports bars disturbing the peace. It’s such a peaceful and quiet place to lay back and enjoy the sunshine. Plus, coming late season, by September, it’s quieter and the temperatures are in the mid to late twenties. Definitely the best time to visit!”

Ideal option for first-timers

“If I was a first-time solo traveller, I would feel at ease very quickly here. Because it’s just us at the hotel and by the pool or sundeck—you can’t help but be together. And that’s what helps your nerves go away. It’s very easy to get into the holiday spirit here. The entire group can sit around the pool, or sit out on the enticing sundeck. Everybody’s often sat together – whether basking in the sun or getting lost in a book in the shade.”

No-hassle hotel

“The Beyaz Suite Hotel is very comfortable and peaceful. You can’t help but feel at ease here! We struck gold with this property—all of the staff here are wonderful to work with. There really is no stress here. It’s the perfect spot to come and switch off, escape and leave everything else back home.”

What does arrival day look like?

“Having already connected and gelled on our Solos WhatsApp group the day before we travel, the guests finally meet in person at the airport. Just a 45-minute transfer to the hotel after landing in Bodrum, we have a simple easy check-in, settle into our rooms and usually head to the bar to meet our fellow travellers. I will host a welcome meeting the next morning after breakfast and run through everything that you need to know about the holiday ahead. I’m always on hand to help! Then there’s an optional quick orientation walk to allow everyone to get their bearings.”

Don’t miss out on the boat trip!

“The boat trip along the Bodrum peninsula with free bar and BBQ—it’s fantastic! We often do this on the second or third day of the holiday. You’ve got an experienced boat crew who guide you through the calm tranquil waters– as calm as the swimming pool actually. If you’re lucky, you might see a dolphin, and it’s such a chilled day out. All the optional excursions are great value and efficiently run, but this one is the crowd-pleaser for sure! I’ve never had any complaints from anyone I’ve ever done it with. In fact—it’s actually a struggle to get people off the boat!” Other excursions include:
  • Jeep Safari through the picturesque villages and countryside around Bodrum
  • Authentic Turkish Bath Experience (massage, body scrub and steam room session)
  • Bodrum City Tour to explore the fascinating sights of Bodrum

traditional turkish food

Food & drink

“Wherever we travel, we should embrace the local cuisine! I encourage the group to embrace the meze style of eating and try a little bit of everything! There is lots of fresh seafood, salads and many traditional Turkish delicacies. It’s such a pleasant dining experience, socialising over a shared meze. The Turkish way to do it. It’s wonderful. Guests who prefer their own meal are obviously welcome to do so, it is up to you and there is always plenty of choice. Along the beach, the nearby hotels all have their own bars and there are several nearby cafes to get a drink and people watch. ‘Miam’ is always a popular choice – a lounge bar that’s just a short 2km taxi ride away. Several bars are within walking distance to the hotel, and there is a choice of four or five very nice restaurants to eat at. Türkbükü (aka Göltürkbükü) is pedestrianised in the evening so no traffic whatsoever, and those that want a livelier atmosphere have the choice to take a taxi into Bodrum.”   swimming pool beyez suites turkey

How do most guests spend their days?

“Relaxing by the pool and sitting out on the sundeck, maybe with the occasional visit to a traditional coffee shop that will be full of people playing Backgammon or you can head to the bakery and have your coffee with something rather delicious. I offer walks each day for those that are a bit more adventurous and there are plenty of options for those who are a bit more active or want a change of scenery. To be honest, there’s nothing quite like relaxing on that deck with a cold large bottle of Efes or glass of rose blush!”
