Day Two: Warsaw City Tour - New Year's Eve Celebration

We start our day with a Warsaw city sightseeing walking tour of the Old Town & New Town. We discover some of the most important sites from the city's long and remarkable past, whilst getting to know the city's background and its role in the history of Poland. We start our route with a visit to the city's Old Town. Now inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, after World War II, much of Warsaw lay in ruins. But it has been painstakingly restored to its former glory, with buildings dating back the 13th to the 20th-Century. Past the former residence of Polish monarchs at the Royal Castle, the Baroque edifice of Krasinski Palace, the modern columns of the Supreme Court building, and the monument dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.

In the afternoon, we have time to prepare for an endless night of New Year celebrations! We welcome New Year with our Gala dinner in a local restaurant in the Old Town. Late return to our hotel.

Day Three: 'Royal Garden of Light' Exhibition at the Wilanow Palace

Today we enjoy a late start, allowing time to rest after last night's festivities. Spending the afternoon at leisure, we can explore Warsaw or simply relax and enjoy the indoor pool and hotel spa facilities. In the evening, we enjoy the Royal Garden of Light at the Wilanow Palace. This is an outdoor exhibition where thousands of multi-coloured diodes have been shaped into artful light sculptures. In addition to the illuminated gardens, custom animations are projected onto the facade of the palace using 3D mapping technology. Each show incorporates art, light and enchanting Baroque music with bits of history and whimsy, and each 15 minute show is unique.

Essential Information

Transfer Time
The transfer time from Warsaw Airport to our hotel takes approximately 25 min, depending on weather and traffic.
Currency
Polish Zloty
Dress Code
The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart casual. Comfortable warm shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended. Winters in Poland can be extra chilly, so be sure to bring layers that will keep you cozy and warm. Bring a comfortable coat, thick scarf, hat and gloves.  Insulated boots and thermal tops are also good idea.
Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €20.00.

Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Passports and visas

We recommend that you check passport and visa requirements for the country you are visiting at the State Department if you have a U.S. Passport. Most countries require that your passport have at least six months validity when traveling internationally, and many require that you have one to two blank visa pages for either an entry stamp or visa. As a general rule, please check that your passport has six months validity beyond your planned trip, and if not, please renew your passport with plenty of time to provide Solos with your updated passport information by the final payment due date.

Health requirements
Compulsory vaccinations: None.

We recommend that you check if vaccinations are required for your destination at the CDC’s recommendations for your visited destination(s). We also recommend you purchase travel protection. A travel protection plan can often assist with medical emergencies and reimburse costs that are covered by the plan. Please verify coverage details with Solos before you travel.
